Our males' house

We have chosen to build a separate house for our males, as some males spray and therefore are impossible to have in your own house, if you want a nice and clean home. In a cattery you also need to take care not to have unwanted matings, so the house also helps keep the males apart from the females.

We have given a lot of thought to which living conditions we want to offer our males, because even though we can't have them in the house with us all the time, they should still have a nice life. Also we wanted the house to be easy to clean, it should be possible to separate the males and it should be insulated, so it is easier to keep a decent temperature in the house also during cold seasons.

From all these thoughts we've ended up with a house, which is 10 square meters with 2 separate rooms each with access to its own catrun. The house and the catruns are placed within our fenced garden, so the males can still have contact with our other cats.

Inside, the house is covered in vinyl from floor to ceiling to make it easy to clean. The 2 rooms are separated but with a cat flap in between, so the 2 males can enjoy the company of each other if they want to. If we have 2 males, that can't get along, the cat flap can be closed to they don't have any contact with each other, and the cat run can be separated into two as well.

Below there are a few pictures of the house and the catruns. More pictures can be found at our facebook page.
